It also looks like at least three Canadian NHL teams, maybe more, will be in the playoffs. Hopefully, by the time the 2019 conference starts, spring flood operations will have shut down and at least one Canadian team will still be on the hunt for the Stanley Cup!<\/p>\n<p>As this is the \u201cconference issue,\u201d I\u2019d like to welcome delegates to the 2019 CRPA Conference. The local organizing committee, led by Ali Shoushtarian and supported by the secretariat and the national conference committee, should be proud of what they\u2019ve put together for us to enjoy in Ottawa, both professionally and socially.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of being proud, we should all be proud of what CRPA represents and how we operate. While there seems to be a lot of divisiveness in the world these days, CRPA\u2019s diversity is a definite strength. Our membership is made up of people from a variety of backgrounds from sea to sea to sea (and sometimes beyond). People work in at least two different languages (some of our members are fortunate to be fluent in both of Canada\u2019s official languages) in a variety of workplaces and organizations. For all of us, the safe use of radiation is always at the forefront. CRPA has made inroads with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and, more recently, is making inroads with both the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) and Transport Canada.<\/p>\n<p>My term as president has been easier thanks to the support of a hard-working secretariat, volunteer board, and volunteer committees. In closing, I\u2019d like to once again salute the hard-working volunteer members whose efforts keep CRPA thriving.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<div class='content-column one_half last_column'><div style=\"padding-left:10px;\"><div style=\"padding: 0 0 0 20px; border-left: #dddddd 1px solid;\">\n<p>Au moment d\u2019\u00e9crire ces lignes, le printemps se pr\u00e9sente \u00e0 nos portes, ce qui signifie que dans les Prairies, des inondations pourraient \u00eatre imminentes. Il semble \u00e9galement qu\u2019au moins trois \u00e9quipes canadiennes de la LNH participeront aux s\u00e9ries \u00e9liminatoires. Avec un peu de chance, lorsque le congr\u00e8s 2019 commencera, les inondations seront choses du pass\u00e9 et au moins une \u00e9quipe canadienne sera toujours en lice pour la Coupe Stanley!<\/p>\n<p>Comme ce num\u00e9ro est distribu\u00e9 lors du congr\u00e8s 2019, j\u2019aimerais souhaiter la bienvenue \u00e0 nos congressistes. Le comit\u00e9 organisateur local, dirig\u00e9 par Ali Shoushtarian et soutenu par le secr\u00e9tariat et le Comit\u00e9 national des congr\u00e8s, devrait \u00eatre fier de ce qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 mis en place pour que nous puissions profiter de la ville d\u2019Ottawa, tant sur le plan professionnel que social.<\/p>\n<p>Et nous devrions \u00eatre tout aussi fiers de ce que l\u2019ACRP repr\u00e9sente et de la fa\u00e7on dont elle fonctionne. Bien qu\u2019il y ait beaucoup de discorde dans le monde ces jours-ci, la diversit\u00e9 de l\u2019ACRP est une force ind\u00e9niable. Nos membres proviennent de diff\u00e9rents domaines et d\u2019un oc\u00e9an \u00e0 l\u2019autre (parfois m\u00eame au-del\u00e0). Ils travaillent dans au moins deux langues diff\u00e9rentes (certains de nos membres ont l\u2019avantage de parler couramment les deux langues officielles du Canada) dans divers milieux de travail et organisations. Pour nous tous, l\u2019utilisation s\u00e9curitaire des rayonnements est toujours au premier plan. L\u2019ACRP a fait des perc\u00e9es avec la Commission canadienne de s\u00fbret\u00e9 nucl\u00e9aire (CCSN) et plus r\u00e9cemment avec la Commission internationale de protection radiologique (CIPR) et Transports Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Mon mandat de pr\u00e9sident a \u00e9t\u00e9 facilit\u00e9 gr\u00e2ce au soutien du secr\u00e9tariat, du conseil d\u2019administration et des comit\u00e9s form\u00e9s de b\u00e9n\u00e9voles qui travaillent fort.
