Le temps mort nominal pour la combinaison d\u00e9tecteur\/d\u00e9bitm\u00e8tre est de 10\u00a0\u00b5s par impulsion. L\u2019efficacit\u00e9 de comptage par Bq pour le Cs\u00a0137 au contact ne devrait donc pas d\u00e9passer 0,18 (temps en fonction) x\u00a00,22 = 4\u00a0%. Cela ne tient cependant pas compte de l\u2019effet d\u2019empilement des impulsions suppl\u00e9mentaires, qui aggravera le probl\u00e8me en raison des interactions multiples compt\u00e9es comme une seule impulsion. En supposant qu\u2019environ 50\u00a0% des interactions soient compt\u00e9es comme une impulsion, une efficacit\u00e9 de seulement 2\u00a0% serait obtenue. Avant \u00e7a, il a pass\u00e9 20\u00a0ans chez ActionCancer Manitoba. Durant ses derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es \u00e0 cet endroit, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 responsable de la radioprotection pour les installations de radioth\u00e9rapie.<\/p>\n<p>Tout au long de ses deux carri\u00e8res, il a eu de nombreuses occasions d\u2019explorer une vaste gamme de sujets li\u00e9s \u00e0 la radioprotection, y compris les rayons\u00a0X non ionisants, de diagnostic, la m\u00e9decine nucl\u00e9aire, la radioth\u00e9rapie m\u00e9dicale, la production d\u2019isotopes par cyclotron et m\u00eame les acc\u00e9l\u00e9rateurs de recherche \u00e0 haute \u00e9nergie. Pour une raison \u00e9trange, les deux \u00e9tablissements lui ont aussi permis d\u2019enseigner les fondements de la radioprotection et la conception de protection contre les rayonnements et d\u2019offrir du mentorat (corrompre) les jeunes membres du personnel. Le point culminant de sa vie professionnelle a \u00e9t\u00e9 en 2020 quand l\u2019ACRP lui a remis le <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crpa-acrp-bulletin.ca\/fr\/2020\/07\/08\/laureats-2020-de-lacrp\/\">Prix de fondateur comm\u00e9moratif Richard V.\u00a0Osborne<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maintenant que Jeff est \u00e0 la retraite, il passe la majorit\u00e9 de son temps \u00e0 essayer de golfer (avec peine), faire de la poussi\u00e8re dans le sous-sol (menuiserie) ou \u00e0 collectionner des morceaux de papier souill\u00e9 (c.-\u00e0-d. des timbres). Il adore le whisky \u00e9cossais single malt et en a d\u2019ailleurs plus de bouteilles que ce que son foie peut prendre.
