We have quite a lot going on to celebrate this milestone.<\/p>\n<h2>Free the Annals!<\/h2>\n<p>This is THE flagship initiative for the 90<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of ICRP. To celebrate our birthday, we want to give a gift to the radiological protection community\u2014free access to the annals of the ICRP, but we need your help.<\/p>\n<p>For many years, ICRP has relied on royalties from the sales of the annals to help support our ongoing work. We want to change this for everyone, everywhere, permanently. In 2017 we made all publications from the first 60 years of ICRP free to access, as well as a few others, including Publication 103 \u2013 <em>The 2007 Recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Now we are aiming to take a huge step forward, making ALL issues free, except for the most recent two years. To achieve this, we are working very hard to raise \u20ac500,000 during 2018. Contributions towards this goal are very welcome from organizations and individuals. For more information, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icrp.org\/page.asp?id=376\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.icrp.org\/page.asp?id=376<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>ICRP in Canada<\/h2>\n<p>Many of you will already know that the ICRP Main Commission met in Quebec City just before the CRPA annual conference there. Although there have been other ICRP meetings in Canada in recent years, the last time the Main Commission met here was in 1976, when they visited Whiteshell Provincial Park under the chairmanship of Canadian C. Gordon Stewart.<\/p>\n<p>You can see for yourself that the Main Commission meeting was productive by reading the summary available at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icrp.org\/icrp_group.asp?id=6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.icrp.org\/icrp_group.asp?id=6<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Best of all was the strong participation of ICRP members at the CRPA annual conference! A dozen members gave presentations in various sessions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>ICRP chair Claire Cousins<\/li>\n<li>ICRP vice-chair Jacques Lochard<\/li>\n<li>ICRP scientific secretary Christopher Clement<\/li>\n<li>ICRP committee chairs (Werner R\u00fchm, John Harrison, Kimberly Applegate, and Donald Cool)<\/li>\n<li>ICRP development and communications manager\u00a0Kelsey Cloutier<\/li>\n<li>ICRP Main Commission members (Kunwoo Cho, Michiaki Kai, Carl-Magnus Larsson, and Dominique Laurier)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>ICRP-ICRU 90<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary Colloquium in Stockholm<\/h2>\n<p>The Str\u00e5ls\u00e4kerhetsmyndigheten (Swedish Radiation Safety Authority) is hosting an open colloquium in Stockholm, October 17\u201318, 2018, to celebrate the 90<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the founding of ICRP and the 90<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the first meeting of the International Commission on Radiation Units and Measurements (ICRU).<\/p>\n<p>There is no registration fee, but advance registration is necessary. For more information visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stralsakerhetsmyndigheten.se\/en\/icrpicru90\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.stralsakerhetsmyndigheten.se\/en\/icrpicru90<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Celebrating Bo Lindell and the Promotion of Radiological Protection<\/h2>\n<p>The Bo Lindell Medal for the promotion of radiological protection was created in 2017 in memory of Bo Lindell, former ICRP chairman and scientific secretary, who passed away in late 2016.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the first Bo Lindell Medal will be awarded to Nicole Martinez at the 90<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary Colloquium in Stockholm. Not only is it fitting to present this first award during a milestone year, it\u2019s also fitting to present it in Stockholm, the home of Bo Lindell. See <a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/LindellMedal2018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/LindellMedal2018<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the future, it will be awarded at each ICRP International Symposium on the System of Radiological Protection, the next being in Adelaide, Australia, November 19\u201321, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to all of this, we have had a busy publication schedule recently. He is currently the scientific secretary of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP).<\/p>\n<p>Chris Clement, sp\u00e9cialiste de la radioprotection, travaille dans le domaine depuis les ann\u00e9es 1980, d\u2019abord sur des projets de restauration environnementale, puis avec la Commission canadienne de s\u00fbret\u00e9 nucl\u00e9aire, o\u00f9 il portait le chapeau de directeur de la radioprotection \u00e0 son d\u00e9part en 2008.
