Welcome to what we hope will become a regular column in the Bulletin: the Students and Young Professionals Corner!
New Students and Young Professionals Committee Chair
We are excited to announce the appointment of the new Students and Young Professionals Committee (SYPCOM) chair, Benjamin Puzantian, who will be stepping into the role following the tireless contributions of outgoing Chair Matt Bernacci. We thank Matt for his outstanding leadership and dedication to the SYPCOM since 2022.
Free Student Memberships Starting in 2027
At the 2026 CRPA Annual General Meeting (AGM), members voted to make student memberships free! This will take effect in the 2027 membership year.
SYPCOM strongly encourages all students enrolled in a radiation-related program to take full advantage of this opportunity. Student members can enjoy access to CRPA webinars, networking, live learning sessions, and more!
Student members will need to provide proof of enrollment when they join or renew their memberships in the new year.
New Early Career Professional Membership Category
Starting in 2027, a new early career professional membership category will be available for individuals who graduated recently and have entered the radiation protection field. Young professionals can use this benefit to make connections in the radiation protection field, network, and enjoy the many other benefits of CRPA membership!
This membership category replaces the transitional student status and can be renewed three times (in three consecutive years).
Benjamin Puzantian
Benjamin PuzantianBenjamin is a PhD candidate in the Medical Physics Program at Carleton University. He conducts his thesis work at the Clinical and Consumer Radiation Protection Bureau of Health Canada, where he studies the biological effects to astronauts from exposure to ionizing radiation during spaceflight. In his free time, Benjamin enjoys the outdoors—hiking, camping, and skiing.
